AI and Connection Notice

last updated 2 October 2026

where AI is used

In two places: the evening interview, where the next question and a short reaction adapt to what you answered, and the journal page, where your answers are written up as prose. The interview always comes first; a page is only written after you have answered.

what is sent

For the interview: your answers so far that evening, the questions asked, your language and which step of the interview you are on. For the page: that evening's questions and answers, your day grade, your language and the writing style you chose. Your email address, password, photos and payment details are not sent.

how the AI is instructed

The page is generated from the information you provided. Chronicle instructs the AI not to invent events, people, conversations, emotions or facts, not to add life lessons or motivational messages, and not to push for emotional depth. AI can still make mistakes, so you can edit or delete every page.

providers and training

Requests go through Lovable's AI gateway to Google's Gemini models. Chronicle does not use your entries to train any model. How long the AI provider keeps a request, and whether it is used for its own purposes, is governed by that provider's business terms; we do not make promises on their behalf.

connecting an assistant (MCP)

You can connect an external assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude. You approve this on a consent screen, and it grants that assistant these specific permissions on your account only:

— read your entries and a single entry by date
— search your past entries
— generate a recap of a period
— see tonight's status and your journal context (language, style, today's questions)
— write tonight's entry, only between 18:00 and midnight your time, and only after the assistant has asked you

It cannot read photos, change settings, make purchases, delete your account, or reach any other person's journal.

disconnecting

Remove the connection in your assistant's settings to stop it from making new requests. Access that was already granted expires automatically after a short time (about an hour). Deleting your Chronicle account ends all access. Disconnecting does not delete anything in your journal.

what to keep in mind

Whatever an assistant reads from your journal can end up in that assistant's conversation history, and is then covered by that provider's own privacy rules, not ours. Questions: martgeluk11@gmail.com.
